Smith Power launches Kubota twin rotor rake

Smith Power Equipment has announced the launch of the Kubota RA2072, a new twin-rotor rake that ushers in a new era in windrowing.

The Kubota RA2072 is expected to arrive in South America in February 2022. It is designed to group crops into windrows, enabling machines such as balers, harvesters or loader trailers to harvest crops.

The Kubota RA2072 rotary rake represents a significant upgrade to the single-rotor counterparts already available locally from Smith Power . Eric Roelofs, international product manager at Smith Power , explains that the main topic of discussion is the maximum working width of 7.2m, which is significantly more than the 3.5m or 4.3m offered by the single-rotor rake.

“Single-rotor rakes can also be used to create large swaths by raking in both directions of travel. However, where this method is preferred, good driving skills are required to form permanent swaths,” says Roelofs. “With a double-rotor rake, such as the Kubota RA2072, it is easier to achieve a constant swath and the driver only needs to look at the overall working width of the rake. Constant swathing reduces the risk of blocking the next harvester and helps maintain a consistent bale shape.”

Twin-rotor rakes use two rotors to group the crop. The rotors are designed to rotate in the opposite direction, forming a swath between the two rotors. The swath width can be adjusted before the machine is spread.

“As the RA2072 has its own supporting frame and wheels, the load on the tractor is relatively low. Therefore, with a small tractor from 60hp the customer can achieve high raking performance. The large transport wheels are steerable for perfect raking. The rotors can be raised and lowered on the headland with just one double-acting valve,” explains Roelofs.

Here are five unique benefits of the Kubota RA2072:

Service-friendly rotor head – filled with oil, important parts constantly lubricated and only three lubrication points
Clean raking – tines with bottom bent forward
High performance and optimum swath shape – curved tines
Optimum ground contour following – tandem axles as standard in the Smith Power specification and the TerraLink open arm design
Compact for transport and storage – detachable tine arms
